Chapter One Reflection
I thought this chapter was very informative, and I liked how the authors gave such thorough background information on the immigration that has happened in our country, and what our country is predicting for the future. I was surprised to learn that most teachers in America are Caucasian. I never really thought about it, but I thought I thought the teaching field was more diverse. Something I always question is if two illegal immigrants have a child in America, and that child is a legal American; what happens if the parents get caught in America being illegal immigrants? What happens to the child, and how does the law handle this situation? I attended a very diverse high school, so the idea of a diverse classroom does not intimidate me at all, in fact I want to embrace the differences among my pupils.

Megan: I was curious about the same issue concerning a child born to two illegal immigrants in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine what the child would have to go through if the parents were caught.
That is awesome that you were able to go to a diverse high school! I am sure it has benefited you greatly! I wish that the high school I went to was diverse. I graduated from a rural high school in a class of 52. There was almost no diversity whatsoever. My first experience in a diverse classroom was when I volunteered at Garfield Primary School. It was an eye-opening experience!
